Why I selected this Project
I selected this project because I wanted to share my love for reading with the world and I wanted to spread the impacts of reading to children. There are books that can serve as guidance for children and I want children to know that they have resources that they can use to make a difference.
Children may not want to read for various reasons such as lack of confidence, lack of encouragement, and/or lack of interest in a book. Little or no reading by a child can lead to educational struggles later in life. By showing how characters in books can be role models and by making their own books, I want children to gain confidence and excitement from reading and writing. With the knowledge they learn from this program, they can make an impact in their own communities.
My hope is that this Girl Scout Gold Award program will encourage children to dive into books, discover new authors and build confidence that can help them shape their world.
